Privacy Policy
AZC, Inc. and
its network of sites have a very simple privacy policy.
Our philosophy is that your private information is
exactly that: private. Your personal information should
not be shared with any other party if at all possible.
We strongly believe that you and you alone are the
owner of your private information.
That means
that we do not sell, share, or make available in any
other way your contact or billing information to any
third parties. We consider customer records to be part
of our trade secrets. We do not share them with partners
or affiliates. The information that we collect from you
is the absolute minimum that is necessary for us to be
able to provide you with the service(s) you
ordered.
There are a
number of pieces of information that we need to collect
in order to be able to provide our services to
you.
- We collect
your name and contact information in order to be able
to establish you as the party having sole authority
over the account and to enable us to contact you. AZC
will not send you any unsolicited information,
including email, except as mentioned below. New users
will receive an AZC welcome letter explaining the
features provided by the service. We contact our
customers during the course of normal business
operations, such as to send order confirmations,
account setup instructions, renewal notices,
invoices, payment confirmations, overdue notices, and
notices regarding the status of your account, like
our newsletter that contains service enhancement
notifications and service alerts. Customers are not
able to unsubscribe from such notifications. AZC will
not send you any unsolicited email regarding any
commercial offers or advertisements at any
time.
-
We collect
your name and contact information in order to
enable us to reserve your desired domain name. In
order to be able to register a domain, ICANN*
(Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and
Numbers) and the Registries it has authorized
require complete and current contact
information for the Registrant (i.e. the party who
will be licensed to use the domain name). At a
minimum this must include:
-
Contact Person Name
-
Company Name (if no company name, then the name
of the organization in whose name the domain will
be licensed under.
- Full
Registrant Address
-
Registrant Phone Number
-
Registrant Fax Number (Optional)
-
Registrant contact email address
These pieces
of information will be part of the PUBLIC record
associated with your domain and will be PUBLICLY
accessible at WhoIS type services on the Internet.
We must collect this information on behalf of the
domain licensing authorities, and by registering a
domain, you give your implied consent that such
information will be made publicly available. This
is not as per our policy, but as per the policy of the domain
granting authorities.
- Note that
ICANN and the Registries that it has authorized may
have different privacy policies. AZC and its network
of sites are not responsible for the privacy
practices or the lack thereof and/or the content of
such Web sites.
- We collect
billing and credit card information in order to
process payment for the services you have contracted.
Financial information that is collected is used to
bill the customer for products and services and never
for any other reason.
- Note that
banks, credit card networks such as Visa, Mastercard,
American Express, and other financial institutions
are likely to track your purchasing habits for their
own marketing purposes each time you use your credit
card. They may even sell this information to
other companies. If you do not wish your purchasing behavior
to be tracked by financial institutions, do not use a
credit card. Pay by cash. All AZC owned network sites
provide you with alternative payment modes other than
credit cards.
- For your
security and privacy, your personal information and
credit card information are kept separate. However,
because of this heightened security protocol, if you
need to update credit card records, you may have to
do this for each individual account if you maintain
multiple domains and hosting accounts with
us.
- As a
company with international customers, we strive to
adhere to the privacy laws of our customer's home
countries. As a result, our privacy policies tend to
be much stricter than those in the US and may be
stricter than what you are accustomed to in your home
country. Though we are not required to do so, our
privacy policies conform greatly to the stringent
privacy policies set forth by the European
Union.
- Many US
privacy certifications organizations such as
TRUSTe allow ownership of the information
collected on a site to reside with the site owner.
AZC and its network of sites maintain a far more
strict policy. We assert that the ownership of this
data remains with the customer. We claim no ownership
rights to any data collected on our site. Note that
ICANN and the Domain Registries have different
privacy policies and may claim ownership to the data
elements they have collected. Though AZC does not
necessarily agree, we do not assume any
responsibility for the privacy practices of these
organizations and their web sites.
- In
conformance with European Union rules, all our
customers have the ability to review and modify their
own customer data records online. Customers can do so
by logging into our database using a SSL secure
connection at https://secure.azc.com/database using
their unique ID and PIN codes.
- During the
ordering process we may use cookies. The use of
cookies is an industry standard, and many major Web
sites use them to provide useful features for their
customers. Cookies in and of themselves do not
personally identify users, although they do identify
a user's computer. Most browsers are initially set up
to accept cookies. We use cookies to facilitate your
order to save you from having to repeatedly reenter
the same information. Though they may be placed on
your drive, the cookies expire immediately at the end
of your order session and cannot be used afterwards.
You can remove these cookies from your drive as you
see fit.
- We will
cooperate with law enforcement agencies and make
available any such data as requested, but only if
proper subpoenas have been served, and only for data
covered by such subpoena.
Our sites have links to
other sites. Many of these sites may use devices such
as cookies, Active X controls, or other devices to
track your progress through the site. We are not
responsible for the privacy practices
or the content of such Web sites.
Unlike many other Internet
companies, we do not gather anonymous information for
marketing purposes. We do monitor usage
patterns for each individual account for billing
purposes or for system administration and maintenance
purposes.
We do not have access to your email
passwords. All email passwords are immediately
encrypted and are accessible and retrievable only by
the end user. If you lose your email password, our
support engineers will not be able to recover it. So,
the privacy of your email communications is entirely
dependent on your ability to safeguard your own
password.
If we
decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those
changes on this page and notify our customers of the
particular changes.
If you have any
questions about this privacy statement, the practices
of this site, or your dealings with this Web site, you
can
contact us using the billing form. We will use all commercially
reasonable efforts to promptly determine and correct
the problem.
* The Internet
Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is
the non-profit corporation that was formed to assume
responsibility for the IP address space allocation,
protocol parameter assignment, domain name system
management, and root server system management functions
previously performed under U.S. Government contract by
IANA,
InterNIC and other
entities.
